The following statewide organizations provide useful information and resources to assist Iowans with disabilities and their families.

  • Governor’s Developmental Disabilities Council: www.state.ia.us/government/ddcouncil.

  • Iowa Compass – Information and referral for Iowans with disabilities: www.iowacompass.org.

  • Center for Disabilities and Development – A lending library of resources on a wide range of disability topics: www.uihealthcare.com/cdd.

  • Registering to vote, finding your polling place, voter guide, absentee ballots: www.sos.state.ia.us.

  • Iowa Protection & Advocacy Services, Inc. – Protects the human and legal rights of individuals with disabilities: www.ipna.org.

  • Central Point of Coordination (CPC). Responsible for collaboration and coordination as the “Single Point of Entry” for all aspects of the individuals, communities, stakeholders and systems.   • Iowa Division of Vocational Rehabilitation – Works to help individuals with disabilities achieve employment, education and individual goals: www.ivrs.iowa.gov.

  • Iowa Training Consortium – Promotes a system of individualized supports that will assist Iowans with developmental disabilities to live as fully participating members of their communities: www.disabilitytraining.org.
